Our Construction Disclaimer

There is the ever ongoing struggle of when to make information public. LOVEnglewood is certainly not immune from this dilemma. But at the risk of looking unpolished, we have ventured out hoping that you will help us catch and correct errors or misinformation in our web pages.

So from the next paragraph on, we present to you, LOVEnglewood.com. We hope that as you seek information about who we are and what we do you will feel free to also send us any information that will help us present a more accurate and useful web presence. Please, you won't hurt our feeling. Please contact our webmaster (he's really just a volunteer like the rest of us) at HOPE@LOVEnglewood.com . Thank you for your patience and assistance.

Englewood is more than a city in Colorado, it’s our home. But many of our families need help, especially in today’s economy.  Did you know that in our less than 7 square miles we have just under 16 thousand housing units with more than 32 thousand people? Unfortunately, in that same area we have a higher than average number of people unemployed than both Arapahoe county and the state of Colorado.  At the same time we earn considerably less than our counterparts in the greater Denver area. What does all of that mean? It means that a good number of our neighbors are hurting. Financially, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.  That’s where you and I come in.

Some of our residents have lived here for sixty or seventy years. Others have just moved here for the first time. But we all have one thing in common, for us, Englewood is our home. Englewood shares the benefits and the challenges of a small city in a much larger metropolitan area. While our communities grant us the privilege of really knowing our neighbors, we have the challenges of homelessness, drugs, and crime. At LOVEnglewood we have learned that the best way to develop a healthy city is to develop healthy neighborhoods. And the best way to develop healthy neighborhoods is to build healthy families.

LOVEnglewood stands for Lifting Other Valuing Englewood. Our goal and mission isn’t to build an organization, but to build a community. We believe the best way to do this is at the simplest level, and that is the single family unit. When we can build healthy strong families they will in turn build a healthy community. And from that, all of us will benefit.

The L in LOVEnglwood stand for Lifting. Lifting our goals, lifting our neighbors, lifting our expectations of our education systems, community development tools, and ourselves. To do that, we are going to have to pause long enough in life to help Lift-up our neighbor.

The O stands for Others. We need to change the way we see them and begin to understand what their needs are, and how we can help them. "Others" are Black and White, Hispanic and Asian. Others are young and old, rich and poor.

The V is for Valuing, Valuing the lives that every face represents. Valuing the potential of every man, woman , and child. When we help others reach their fullest potential they will begin to value themselves. Then, they become a part of the solution instead of the challenge.

And E of course, stands for Englewood. You and me. We are Englewood. Our community can be proud of our heritage and trust those in places of leadership. Together, Englewood can be a shining example of the power of LOVEnglewood!
